What is SkyFex Remote Assistant?

SkyFex Remote Assistant is the service that allows you to see everything what is happening on a remote computer desktop. You can control remote computer as well if client allows this. You also can gather remote computer system configuration details.

There is no need for additional software installation. All you need is Internet Explorer and Internet connection. The service works over outgoing HTTPS (TCP port 443) connection to SkyFex central server. You do not need to open any ports on your firewall and do any firewall configuration changes at all. The service works even if you connect to the Internet through the proxy-server.

How does it work?

The service consists of two plug-in modules and the central server. Plug-in modules are implemented as ActiveX controls for Microsoft Internet Explorer.

You start assistance session and ask your client to go to https://skyfex.com/client. The client should tell you the Client ID which he obtains from SkyFex in order to connect him to the session. Client ID is six-digit number and the client can send it to expert through e-mail, Instant Messenger, Online Chat and just tell it on the phone. The client can leave the session at any time.

Does the service leave any files that can be used for further unauthorized access to my computer?

SkyFex Remote Assistant is developed following security industry standards and with strong user privacy in mind. No additional files are left after the service, and no operating system or its components settings are changed.

The service is based on Microsoft ActiveX technology. According to the Microsoft specification, after downloading SkyFex ActiveX component the browser saves the plug-in module in the %WINDIR%\Downloaded Program Files folder. This is happened to skip downloading module again at the next service use.

Do I need to install any additional software for using SkyFex Remote Assistant?

SkyFex Remote Assistant does not require and additional software to be installed on both participating parties of the assistance session. All you need is Internet Explorer for Windows and Internet connection.

Do I need to open any ports on my firewall for using the service?

The service works through HTTPS protocol (TCP port 443). No ports need to be open on user firewall. In fact, while you are able to browse this website and read this text this warrants that you can use the SkyFex service.

Does the service work through proxy?

Yes, the service works through all standard proxy servers. Even if the proxy has additional HTTP packet content filters, that may potentially affect the Expert module only. The Client module is transparent for all proxy servers.

Does SkyFex service work over dial-up connection or do I need high-speed Internet connection?

The service works through all types of Internet connections including dial-up. The only difference is that the desktop image refresh rate will be lower through the dial-up connection.
